The Budding Lily Jumpsuit was created as my final project for CAD Patternmaking. Working in a group of three, we each explored a different stage of the lily flower’s life cycle (budding, blooming, and wilting) and developed designs inspired by our assigned phase. I ultimately chose to pursue the budding stage, using CLO3D to develop the patterns and construct a full-denim jumpsuit inspired by the organic silhouette and style lines of a lily bud. I translated the flower’s tapered, layered form into the garment’s structure and seam placement while maintaining a contemporary fashion silhouette. I also used CLO3D to create an animation showcasing the garment in motion. To complete the project, I photographed the finished garment alongside real lilies, artificial flowers, and moss to further emphasize its botanical inspiration.
